Biography

Having been described by Mark Carlson as possessing "flawless technique and a searing intensity", Geoff Durbin is an award-winning performer, currently a member of Presidio Brass, and Visiting Assistant Professor of Low Brass and Musicology at Ouachita Baptist University. Dr. Durbin is a central Arkansas-based Trombonist and Euphonist, whose most impressive accolade is his Gold Medal finish at the 2013 Leonard Falcone Tuba and Euphonium Festival. Dr. Durbin enjoys an active livelihood as a soloist, freelance performer, educator, and clinician with regular invitations to teach and perform in schools and venues around the United States. As an educator, his students have occupied positions in the All-State bands of each state in which he has taught (Texas, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee), in addition to being accepted to various national brass competitions such as the Leonard Falcone Euphonium Competition and the United States Marine Band Concerto Competition. Dr. Durbin has been under the tutelage of Dr. Brian Bowman, Dr. Gary Bird, and Dr. John Mueller and he proudly holds degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the University of North Texas, and the University of Memphis.
